The legendary Queen of Soul sat in the second row next to the Rev. Jesse Jackson and said at halftime she hopes to resume her public schedule in May, according to the Associated Press. "Probably starting at Radio City -- reschedule what I had to cancel," she said. Her concert dates and personal appearances had been canceled through May on doctors' orders.
Franklin, 68, had surgery on December 2 for an undisclosed ailment and in early January said the health problem had been "resolved." On Friday night Franklin appeared in good spirits and said she was "feeling really great" and "loving the game."
A special tribute will be given for Franklin at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards tomorrow night. Among those to honor the Queen of Soul will be Yolanda Adams, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride and Florence Welch. The exclusive segment will feature both individual and collective performances of some of Franklin?s greatest hits.
