Whoopi Goes Hard On The New York Times

I agree with Whoopi's argument, however, I think her point would have been better addressed as a letter to the editor providing information of all omissions on their behalf.

I agree. But we all know that's not how they cackle on The View. A well-thought out, well-written open letter in the same medium would not be sensational enough.

She's obscuring the message of the article, which is after decades and decades of existence, The Academy still lacks the true diversity of its PAYING audience and THEIR stories/tastes (and not just blacks, BTW). But that's a reflection of the industry, which remains mostly middle-aged white males pleased-as-punch with themselves, as long as suckers keep paying them a hard earned $15 or more each to see $2. or less worth of their lackluster effort. With the plethora of adaptations, sequels, prequels, reboots, remakes, etc., I swear there are only 20 people (and a parrot that can type) working in HW, and they're churning out the same shitty duplicates of the exact same 10 stories in general!

No matter what I think about that kinda bullshit (masturbatory, self-aggrandizing, undeserved, marketing tool of the devil, etc), it does still holds SOME prestige. She IS one of the chosen (very) few. But The Academy, Whoopi, and The View (ugh, whatever), has lost a lot of integrity and interest over the years, so I'm not nearly as offended as I guess I should be.
