Michael Jackson Doc: I Am An Innocent Man

The doctor charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson has entered a plea of not guilty.

"Your honor, I am an innocent man," Dr. Conrad Murray told the judge, according to the Associated Press. "I definitely plead not guilty."

After a six-day preliminary hearing earlier this month, the judge ruled that Dr. Murray must stand trial in a criminal case tied to the pop star's death.

His attorney J. Michael Flanagan contends that prosecutors don't have sufficient evidence to prove how Murray allegedly caused the King of Pop's demise. He plans to move forward without seeking a plea bargain, according to the AP. "We're going to go to trial," told reporters. "I think our case is really solid. We were very pleased with the way the evidence went at the preliminary hearing ... This should result in an acquittal."

The trial is scheduled to begin March 28, with a pretrial hearing on February 7.
